Request for Information Reports

A Request for Information (RFI) is a specific, ad-hoc query initiated by you to address a particular intelligence gap. It details the outcome you require and enables our Analysts to conduct targeted research and analysis on your behalf.

Our Analysts are experts in collecting, analysing, and presenting data to aid in the client’s decision-making processes. The data they collect, and the way it is presented, is tailored to each assignment and will be dependent on your requirements. The RFI process allows us to gather the specific requirements and establish the key criteria for the report.

There are a range of standard reports that are common requests, which can include:

  • Due Diligence Reports – an assessment of the security risks associated with a specific individual/organisation/location/activity/venture.
  • Digital Footprint Assessments – an analysis of publicly available online information to identify potential security vulnerabilities, reputational risks, or indicators of personal danger related to an individual or organisation.
  • Thematic Reviews – a comprehensive analysis of a specific, broad security issue or trend, such as global protest movements, threats or impacts to specific sectors, or changes in organised crime patterns, used to inform a client’s strategic planning and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Event Security Threat Assessments – a specialised report that provides a comprehensive assessment of potential security threats to a specific upcoming event. The report involves identifying and analysing a range of risks, including but not limited to, public demonstrations, criminal activity, geopolitical tensions or individual threats.
  • Insight reports – A structured document that presents analysis, interpretation, and key findings derived from data, research, or monitoring, with the aim of providing meaningful understanding and actionable conclusions on a specific topic, trend, audience, or issue.

Whether you want a formal report, a PowerPoint presentation, or a podcast, we will aim to deliver the output in the most suitable format for you.

The Intelligence Cycle

  1. Planning & Direction: The starting point is always defining what information in desired. This stage sets priorities and defines what intelligence is required, and for what purpose.
  2. Collection: This stage will define the data collection process, including what relevant sources will be used. This will almost always include open-source intelligence (OSINT) from a range of sources, including the surface web, deep web, and dark web, but may also include interrogation of internal data, human intelligence, or any other sources defined at this stage.
  3. Processing & Exploitation: Collation of all the raw information and data, as well as standardising the format that the data is in to allow for more effective analysis.
  4. Analysis & Production: This is the point where information is turned into intelligence. The data is interpreted by an Analyst to identify patterns, assess risks, and discern pertinent insights relevant to the client.
  5. Dissemination & Integration: Sharing actionable insights with decision-makers in the agreed format.

Feedback: At any point additional questions can arise, prompting clarification or deeper investigation. The cycle is then repeated and the output refined.

Our RFI process is built on the intelligence cycle which is detailed below.

The Benefits of Request for Information Reports

The nature of businesses means there will always be a variety of areas where additional information could aid in decision making. This is never truer than when analysing security threats. No two businesses are exactly alike and this means that whilst there will be a range of standard security reporting that businesses benefit from, there will always be instances where a bespoke report is the only way to get the information that you need.

Whilst there are a wide range of more common RFI reports, such as due diligence, digital footprint assessments, and threat assessments, the point of a RFI is that it does not have to follow a standard approach. The focus, timeframes, data collection method, and output are all discussed and agreed prior to work commencing, meaning every RFI is a distinctly unique product.

Whether you want a 10 page due diligence report on the threats associated with a new premises move, a PowerPoint presentation assessing the online sentiment associated with your upcoming event, or a travel security assessment accompanied with a 10 minute podcast presenting the findings and key tips, the RFI process is designed to ensure you get exactly what you need.
